Old Methodist Church Museum in Daphne to present Civil War re-enactors

Civil War re-enactors of the 15th Confederate Calvary, Co. C, of Baldwin County will be on the grounds of the Old Methodist Church Museum of Daphne at 2 p.m. April 20. The re-enactors will appear in uniforms worn by Civil War soldiers at the event, which will feature exhibits of various weapons used in battle, along with other necessities such as cookware and bedding. A tent representing a battlefield “surgery” will be erected and a "doctor" will be onsite to identify the instruments and medications used to treat the wounded on the battlefield. Melissa McNichol will read a sampling from a collection of original letters written by her Harrison ancestors during the war; the collection was donated to the museum by the living descendants of the Harrison family. The event is free, with donations accepted. Light refreshments will be served. The museum is located at 405 Dryer Avenue. Parking is available at Daphne Baptist and Christ the King Churches, as well as Bayside Academy. Handicapped passengers may be dropped off at the site. (Submitted by Mickey Boykin)
